Thread: End Times

  1. End Times

Can someone explain to me what LDS end time beliefs are, i.e. how the world will end and the second coming, etc. and how food storage and emergency preparedness fit into those beliefs? I am not LDS but do food storage for a year's supply as a budget tool. Thanks. (I have asked my question at Mormon.org and on some other blog sites and have gotten some pretty strange answers that make no sense to me. One person even said the world would never end. I don't know what to believe!)

I would recommend you visit the church website: http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?lo...001f5e340aRCRD and maybe contact the missionaries with questions you might have.

This is a preparedness site. As members of the church, we are encouraged to have food & water storage, along with every needful thing so that when emergencies happen, whether natural, man-made, financial, etc., families are able to get through those troubles.

We're not going to be getting into the end of the world discussion here, but instead encourage to prepare for the worst while living with a positive outlook and doing all we can to improve our families, communities, country, etc.

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear.

Thank you for the link. I did not mean to offend; just seemed to me the two are linked--maybe I'm wrong.

No offense taken. We just want to be careful to stick with the topics of preparedness and touch on some of the basic beliefs and doctrines as a foundation. If we get into too much discussion regarding prophecies of the last days, it takes a life of it's own. And because this is not an official site of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it isn't the best place to answer your questions. We were not trying to avoid your questions, but were leading you to the official resource center for the answers. Hopefully you'll be able to find answers to your questions.

Also, if you don't already, consider picking up a Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants to study along with the King James version of the bible sold in LDS bookstores. They have great indexes and cross references to help you find many answers to your questions (the King James version bible bought through LDS bookstores has indexes and footnotes added that cross reference to Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, etc.). This way, you are getting the direct doctrine vs. opinions from individuals on this board who may or may not be familiar with the scriptures. It will take more time, but is the most accurate method. And you can search specific topics to get more answers.

I hope this helps and I'm sorry again to be so vague.
