These are for educational purposes. It is important to do it right or you'll run into some very uncomfortable situations and it is important to be as humane as possible, minimizing any pain for the rabbit.


Take the hide feet in your left hand and hang it upside down. Then take your thumb and index finger and wrap them around the base of the skull right behind the ears. Give a sudden jerk downward and this will break their neck. Next chop their head off and butcher as normal.

Breaking the neck is painless and quick. If you're worried about whether you're doing it right or not, please have someone who has done it help you out.





Some people will get a thick wooden dowel, ax handle or metal bar/pipe and strike the rabbit on the back of the head like this illustration.
(Except this picture shows using a hand for the blow... don't! Use a hard object instead.

This one shows how you can use a knife to help you along, but you don't need to. You can pretty much just pull the skin right off the rabbit. And my personal preference is to tie up both feet, not just one.





When the skin is removed, it should look similar to this...

And these are popular methods of stretching and drying the skin for tanning. It is a thick v-shaped wire that you slide the pelt over to stretch it out in its natural shape. These can only be used if you pull the skin off like a sock. If you cut the skin down the belly of the rabbit, another method must be used...
