Portable Ham Shack/Net Control
By "Ollie" K6JYB
I used to keep an FT-8800 mounted in a Pelican case to set up as a cross-band repeater. When we do our events such as our meet & greets it was getting to be a pain to load up several boxes and different radios and such. I decided to put it all in one box that I can set up on my folding camping table. I've just had a hard time finding the right box. Well, I think I found it. What's great about this is the fact that I can still set it up as a remote cross-band repeater and now I can put the 12V batteries in the bottom of the box and close it up. Here's what I've done...
Normally my laptop is in my truck on its mount so that will allow me to keep my two 50 ft coax cable coiled up in the box too. I will just pull the laptop from my truck if I want to use it with the Ham Shack.
Is the power suppy running off of an inverter to a 12v battery?
I had the powerstrip plugged into a 110 outlet. When taking the photo I had the power supply, FT-897 and laptop fed by the powerstrip and the powersupply feeding the FT-8800. The powerstrip cable and coax cables run our through the weatherproof cover on the side of the box. I have inverters in my truck that can power the stuff in the box if need be or I can set 12V batteries in the bottom of the box.
