Thread: Cabela's Outback Lodge Review

  1. Cabela's Outback Lodge Review

Cabela's Outback Lodge is the tent I have chosen when I just need a small, simple tent to put up, or if I need to be mobile such as when back packing. I have the 8x8 model. It weighs in at 13 lbs with stakes and poles, which I realize isn't the lightest tent out there, but it has a 78" center height. That means I can stand up in it which for me is a huge plus.

It is very quick to put up. All you have to do is stake out the four corners and put in the center pole and voila you have shelter. This makes it great for quick overnight stays. For extended stays, or when bad weather is a possibility, a little more time and effort is important to stake out the sides to allow it to shed water efficiently. I have used it for week long scout camps and it has kept me bone dry during some pretty severe mountain thunderstorms, when properly staked.

Although it is listed as a "4 person" tent I have found that with gear 2 people is your maximum occupancy, unless the 4 people are clowns that like to stuff themselves into small cars.

  2. Just a heads up that Cabelas now has this tent on sale for $169 for the 8x8 size. Plus another $20 off discount. That's about $70 off regular price:
