solar lighting
I've been playing around with exterior solar lighting, testing it for possible indoor use. While I haven't found any that truly light up a room, in my experience, they are great nightlights and might be useful in an outhouse situation. Has anyone else looked into this option?

Re: solar lighting
My husband and I have been looking at some options, but haven't actually tried anything out yet. What brands have you tried? Have you tried a flood light type set up?

Re: solar lighting
I was at Wal-Mart today. In the garden section, they have a new brand of solar lights (sorry, I forgot the name), that is 12-20 times more powerful than the regular solar lights. There's a display, and I could really see a difference. They range from $30-$50, but I haven't bought them yet. The others were cheapy lights from Lowe's and Big Lots. I put off the light purchase in favor of the last dutch oven in Wally World.
Let me know how it goes when you try something out and I'll do the same.

Re: solar lighting
I need to stop forgetting to ask my hubs which lights we were looking at! lol I know it was a catalog and it was an actual flood light with a little solar panel and it was about 50 bucks. We're aiming for something that would light up the inside of a heavy canvas military tent.
i'll get back to you.

Re: solar lighting
I was at Walmart again today and double checked the more powerful solar lights. They are 12-20 times more powerful than other solar lights and are made by Westinghouse. The cost is $30-$50.
My thought with the solars was to charge them each day and bring them inside at night. They could be supported in a vase or pot of sand. Some models can hang since they resemble lanterns. I haven't quite gotten the results I was hoping for, but I'll keep trying.
