Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent
Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent

Ingredients:
- 1 Bar Bels Naptha Soap
- Arm & Hammer Washing Sod
- 20 Mule Team Borax
Directions:
- Grate 1 bar of Fels Naptha Soap into the top of a double boiler and melt.
- Pour 1 cup Arm & Hammer WASHING Soda and 1 Cup 20 Mule Team Borax into a 5 gallon plastic pail.
- Pour 1 Gallon of very hot water into the pail.
- Stir melted Fels Naptha into the pail and whisk until mixed. Add very hot water until pail filled within a couple inches from top (3-5 gallons total) and whisk again.
- Add a few drops of any scent or not (such as clove oil, bay oil, lavender, etc).
Storage:
- Store in any used plastic laundry soap container or leave in pail.
Year's Supply:
- A typical family of 4 will need 2 boxes each of borax and Washing soda and 16 bars of Fels Naptha, if you wash every day.
For Hard Water:
- Add an extra 1/2 to 1 cup of borax per wash load.
- Otherwise use 1 cup for light washes and 1-2 cups for extra dirty and super sized washes.
- Add 1/2 cup of bleach or a little bluing for whites.
- This soap does not suds and is healthy for your washer and plumbing systems.
- Rub Fels Naptha Bar into stains.
- The liquid will thicken and lumps will happen. Just stir occasionally and lumps will dissolve in wash water to no consequence.
- Works in cold and hot washes.
- May alleviate soap allergy symptoms.
