Some helpful Arizona links I received in an email:
http://www.az-arrl.org/web/ This is the American Radio Relay League's (ARRL) local news and info site. The newsletters are good resources for what happened, what's coming up, ham radio history and links to other ham radio sites.
Ham Radio information database...
http://www.ac6v.com/ This is a good index of where to get information on all types of ham radio topics. You may find some dead links under just about every topic. Warning... There is a section on radio modifications. Some of them don't work or if don't improperly can permanently damage your radio. Under J-pole antennas...over the years, I've made many different J's trying to find the best one. Every ham has his preference of design. And, some are very good, while others not so good.
Local ham radio club...
http://wb7tjd.org/wiki/Superstition_...b,_Inc._147.12 Superstition Amateur Radio Club originally started in the '70's in Apache Junction. They grew too big for the meeting location and moved to Mesa. No room rental fee.
