Six Ways In & Twelve Ways Out
US Rescue and Special Operations Group (US RSOG)

I picked up this field manual "Six Ways in & Twelve Ways Out" by the US Rescue and Special Operations Group (US RSOG) a few years ago and have found it to be a very valuable manual. It is small and fits well in a B.O.B. Highly recommended to look through and have on hand.

From the manual:

There are basic fundamentals that the author intends for the reader and would-be survivor to learn from this manual.

The knowledge of natural insulation and its importance to the survivors well-being.
How to construct a Natural Cacoon shelter or a shelter for any given environment the survivor finds himself in.
The ability to build a fire in most any environment.
How to trap for real! Not the usual geriatric, coffee table B.S. that most manuals provide you with.
The collection and purification of water from different water resources.
A reasonable grasp of fishing techniques.
How to create improvised cordage. This is more important than you might assume.
Improvising a cutting edge.
The importance of medical training and being properly equipped.
Conditioning yourself to being preparedness minded. Being equipped and skilled in the primitive art of adaptation.

The survival strategy:

S - Size up the situation
U - Undue haste makes waste
R - Remember where you are
V - Vanquish all fear
I - Improvising
V - Value living
A - Act like the natives
L - Learning basic skills

Other topics:

Natural insulation
Improvised sleeping bags, shelters, etc (in snow, desert, swamp, ocean, etc)
All kinds of fire making (using flint, optics, firearms, etc)
Collecting and filtering water
All kinds of fishing and trapping methods (including fish traps, snares, dead falls, etc)
Various cooking methods
Making cordage, tools, weapons, etc
Survival knives, guns, etc
Evasion
Navigation
Hiding

It's a more difficult book to find, but if you can get your hands on it, definitely worth having. Everyone should have a copy on hand.

Recommendation:
5 Stars - Everyone should get this and practice some of the things within.
