This is a good overall reference and quick review preparedness book that is full of illustrations. The topics literally range across almost any camping and survival topic. None of the topics are explored in depth, but it may be exactly what the average urban prepper needs for reference.

I typically give our sons and sons-in-law emergency preparedness gifts for birthday and Christmas presents. A couple of years ago, I purchased a set of books that were the 'best' general preparedness books I'd seen. Then I found Camping and Wilderness Survival. The first purchase was returned and replaced by this book. Our guys are semi-hard core campers, climbers and hikers with a years of year-round field, mountain and forest experience. I worried that they would think the book was too 'light' but just the opposite reaction was true. They love it.

I find myself pulling it off the shelf frequently during the year when I spend time with our grandsons and young men from the ward teaching them field and woodcraft skills. The quick references and graphics quickly bring to mind topics that I'd temporarily misfiled in my grandpa memory.

Recommendation:
5 Stars if you aren't actively involved in field and camping already. And ....
5 Stars even if your 4-day pack already weighs less than 30 lbs.
