What to do DURING a Heat Wave
Stay indoors if possible.
Do not dehydrate. Drink lots of liquids and take a salt tablet if you think you are sweating too much (unless you are on a salt-restricted diet.)
Slow down. High temperatures and humidity sap your body of its energy and put a strain on your heart.
Do not overeat. A lot of food in your stomach takes even more energy to digest.
Dress in light-weight, light-colored clothing.
Make good use of fans and air-conditioners.
