The famous Bob Heil, owner and chief engineer at Heil Sound now hosts a weekly Ham Radio show on the TWiT TV network.

I've talked to him about his plans for future topics on the show and it is going to be a 'must see' or 'listen' for all Hams or those interested in Ham Radio.

I've posted a couple of articles about the show on my blog...

The show can be watched live on your computer at: http://live.twit.tv or you can view videocasts of the episodes on the TWiT site or download the podcasts at: http://twit.tv/hn It is live every Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Pacific. Hang around for a few minutes if it doesn't start promptly. The earlier shows on the network can sometimes run a little long and push the start time back a bit.

The 2nd show talked to folks who were involved as support in Joplin, MO after the recent tornado. It was a great episode that should be of interest to all of us here on LDS Preppers.

The owner of the TWiT Network, Leo Laporte, is going to take Ham classes later this summer and will take all three ham license tests online as users watch. There are a number of very high profile Ham's that watch the show and will participate in future shows. As an example, Joe Walsh of the band, The Eagles, was on the first show. He is has been a Ham operator most of his life.

Bob hosts a weekly Ham Net from his shop in Illinois that is widely attended by Ham's around the world.

This is good stuff folks. Especially if you are a Ham or have interest in becoming one. To my knowledge, it is the only regularly scheduled Ham Radio show in existence.

As a follow up on the Ham Nation show, anyone interested in communications during emergencies would be well served to watch the second episode of Ham Nation. http://www.twit.tv/hn2 The show covers Ham communications in Joplin, MO during the recent tornado with a Ham operator who was there. The second guest on the show is from Southern California and works with the emergency personnel, Ham operators, CERT, etc., there.

The show was extremely informative and will provide a lot of insights and ideas for any of us who are working to create or enhance the communications abilities in our groups or even in our own families.

You can listen to the show or watch it stream to your computer, etc., by choosing the appropriate link on the show page. http://www.twit.tv/hn2 If you choose the HD link, be patient for a couple of minutes while enough of the stream buffers so you can watch it without stutter.
