Ward communications field day experiences

I've been looking at various ward communications ideas, but was curious - has anyone tried a field day to test out their plans? What was the experience like? Where you able to identify what worked well vs what did not work well, and make changes to the communications plan with that experience?

I have not yet, but am planning one now. I will let you know how it goes. What I have been able to do so far is to get some of the Ward to our clubs field day to play around and hopefully catch the bug.
